Stephane Vereecken works from his studio in Brussels. He began his artistic practice at a young age, working with photography, specifically Polaroids, and paintings on wood. He has held countless solo and group shows in Brussels and Belgium, and has had commercial success across Europe and the USA.
This current body of work focuses on the relationship between human beings and real elements of the world.
“Through my images of the Hotel Mutation Series, I explore the relationship between human beings and its diffused image, crossed by real elements. The bodies are projections of the human, and the objects are sculptures, a container. A universe of reality and also of surrealism, as a reflection of our world. The body and the landscape and the urban landscape drawn or projected on the bodies show us the perpetual mutation of a new world in the process of creating or continually re-creating itself.
I construct meaningful images and then move them in the opposite direction. The drawings on bodies and walls show us a future project of a sublimated and possible life”.
