We’re beginning 2023 with a cracker! Following a sell out solo show in 2021, Sam Gare brings us ‘The Places We Go To Feel Small’ – a brand new collection of 8 paintings featuring iconic scenes from around the Scottish Highlands.

Wild mountainous landscapes and giant geological features that have fascinated and captivated people for centuries take centre stage. Whether viewed physically from the land, through binoculars, read about or you’ve listened to their stories, Sam wants to understand how they call to us all. She is particularly interested in the different ways we engage with natural spaces and the feeling of smallness they induce. This sense of ‘smallness’ gives a perspective on life that Sam describes as a ‘beautiful insignificance’  – “what can feel immense in your day to day life can be washed away by time in nature and space” – Sam Gare.
