It’s a real honour to be opening Callum Youde’s first ever solo show in the gallery next weekend. Callum featured in our Best of Scottish Art Schools Grad Show last year, where he sold out his full collection. And it’s been a brilliant year since having collaborated with Callum on a number of private commissions and mural projects across Scotland.
Callum’s work is honest and visually refreshing. He documents the everyday stories that unfold around him. Enjoying a balance of playful motifs and punchy colour, his abstract-expressive painting is unique and completely authentic. It’s not often you see something so simple and brilliant.
We hope you can join us for the preview opening on Friday 3rd June in the gallery from 6 til 8pm. Callum will be here, there will be drinks a plenty thanks to our friends at Heverlee Beer, and maybe the sun will even make an appearance.
