Fresh in for May we have Claire Kennedy’s first release of 2021. With 14 new works in the series titled ‘Glasgow Parks’. Featuring locations both north and south of the River Clyde, Claire found inspiration for her new series during her daily lockdown walks with her faithful companion Farley.
”Public parks have provided a lifeline for millions of us locked down in urban areas during the last year, and have provided a connection to nature which is so crucial for our mental wellbeing. When everything else closed down, parks became our last refuge. So much of last year has been a challenge, but this series is about a simple joy and sense of peace that a walk through a park can bring. It’s a celebration of the parks of Glasgow, using photographs taken during my daily walks with my dog Farley”.
Claire continues to refine and perfect her technique using black and white photographic imagery and layers of acrylic paint. She seamlessly combines the two elements into a gloriously rendered state. Resulting in a timeless work of art that appeals to all.
All works will be in the gallery from 8th May. We’re back open Wednesday to Friday 11-5pm and Weekends 12-5pm and look forward to welcoming you in.
