‘New Mastery’ is a term that has been used to describe Lily Macrae’s painting. She blends the dramatic storytelling and style inherited from Renaissance and Baroque masters with the abstraction and modern colour palette of a contemporary artist.
Lily first burst onto the art scene in 2016 after graduating from ECA. We held her first ever solo show State of Change in 2018 – it was a sell out. At this time we also collaborated on a number of projects and saw her work purchased by several collectors. These works hang in both public and private spaces across the UK.
At the moment, Lily has a solo show over in New York. It’s quite a rise for such a young artist – her relentless work ethic, unwavering devotion to her subject, and constant desire to grow her talent have all contributed to her accelerated success. It’s a delight to have 3 of her stunning oils back in the gallery.
