This year’s BREAKOUTS will open on Friday 26th June, bringing together a selection of standout artists from Glasgow School of Art, Edinburgh College of Art and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (Dundee).
Visiting the Degree Shows this year, it was clear that each school had its own distinct personality. Glasgow’s cohort was ambitious and experimental, with many artists pushing their practice beyond the canvas and embracing interdisciplinary approaches. Edinburgh presented a more focused and considered exhibition, distinguished by strong individual voices and carefully developed practices. Dundee offered a compelling range of work rooted in community, landscape and contemporary social concerns, with a refreshing emphasis on lived experience.
For this third outing of BREAKOUTS in the new gallery space (but this shows 16th year!), we have curated an exhibition not only showcasing paintings, drawings and prints, but includes our first ever sculptural installation.
