Bulgarian born Simona Ruscheva is a contemporary figurative artist based in London. Ruscheva’s work is hugely influenced by her Bulgarian roots, which helps her remain connected to her culture. She explores various subjects, from Bulgarian folklore and heritage, while using traditional elements and objects; embroidery, pottery designs, mythology and universal symbols.

“Within my works I want to strengthen and expand people’s awareness of the still existing cultural diversity in a current world setting, where globalisation is the new trend. With ethnicity being melted down, I consider it really important and preserve our own heritage”.

Ruscheva studied Fine Art Painting at Veliko Tarnova in Bulgaria. She has participated in various group shows, including the Royal Institute of British Artists Annual Exhibition and the Society of Women Artists Annual Exhibition.
