Payam Beint is an Edinburgh based artist and musician. His work looks at the idea of how painting can be used as a means of recording memory and the peripheral vision and non-static vistas of a journey.

“I became interested in creating work that reflected not only momentum but constantly changing internal and external vistas. The process of creating these paintings led me to build up layers incorporating different viewpoints and then use abrasive material to strip back layers which were then repainted creating subtle shifts in colour as well as an interplay between multiple viewpoints”.

Payam spent 12 years in a teaching post within Secondary Education, specialising in Fine Art and Graphic Design. He has a BA(Hons) in Contemporary Art Practice and recently gained an MLitt in Fine Art Practice from GSA (2019).
