Dan Cimmermann’s paintings are a reflection upon British identity and a rebellion against societal rules of old. By reworking heavy and expressive layers of colour, Dan aims to deface classical portraiture styles from the 18th century – think British figures from royal and military backgrounds or notable individuals – to bring about a new narrative and system of values. His work encapsulates a dissatisfaction with the current system of politics and offers liberation from symbols of wealth and power.

Dan graduated with a first class BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2001. He has had work exhibited twice in the prestigious BP Portrait Prize. He is both a studio and street artist.
