Chloe Alexander is an Edinburgh based artist whose work seeks to omit excess and focus on captivating structures and taxonomies while contemplating the impact of colour. She collects complicated shapes, particularly straight lines, repetitive forms and lists.

She say’s of her practice:

“By applying a library of pre-mixed colours to my collection of shapes, I seek solutions to the puzzle of composition. Each painting aims to achieve an understanding between intertwining languages of colour, form and medium. Painting with acrylic paints on stretched canvas juxtaposes the painterly against the near digital finish I aim to achieve. During my recent work with oils (though maintaining a systematic control), I have seen the appeal of less refinement versus gains in tonal and representational values while focusing more on my interest in categorisation”.

Alexander graduated with a BA(Hons) Fine Art from DJCAD 2019.
