This work forms part of a figurative triptych and was on display during Felix Carr’s degree show at the GSA 2016.
Carr is the winner of Steven Campbell Trust, Hunt Medal 2016, which is awarded for poetic creativity in the exhibited work of a graduating artist. He is also the recipient of the GSA Dissertation Prize for The School of Fine Art.
It is an original oil on canvas.
“if I could just peel back your wounds and pin them
to the shadow-white walls
I would trade the night sky with its velvet milk and
all its glittering shingle
to taste the words trailing from your lips but once,
and drink them as my own
when your body aches, when bones will bend, what
then, shall I move for you?
take your tired arms and wrap them about my own
I will know your silent skin
so I will scratch away the distance, as if it were mine
and cup your chin with longing
sighing at the softness of your most trusting sleep
trying to breathe your out breaths”
