In this work, Frew investigates the idea of original v’s the surrogate, whilst at the same time analysing how we perceive an object: could this work be defined as a painting or a sculpture? (Or both?) The use of the URL to signify the digital location of an absent images calls into consideration the nature of how we assimilate visual information – can an image operate in two places at once in both a digital and analogue state? Like a form of three-dimensional printmaking, this work will run in an edition of 10 pieces.
