“An office building which had been hollowed out and then left to sit empty and exposed for many months looking over the River Cart passing down below was the inspiration for this painting. The building was to be converted into homes and the older Cathcart House which stands beside the empty building had already been converted from office space into flats. The condition of renewal and regeneration for these buildings led me to create an image that is concerned with the constant flow of time as represented by the river and the constant state of adapting to and healing from changed circumstances and the transformation required to learn to leave the past behind” – Coll Hamilton.
