She Could Not Handle Herself #2
The small handprinted wood cut She Could Not Handle Herself is a poem of a sort, about something potentially shameful and in any case intimitely familiar made precious and noteworthy. The print is askew and handprinted in a hasty and only partially successful manner, which creates a visceral voice from the traces of the wood board, a sort of cry from the abyss. Is this a positive or a negative statement, and why is it so matter-of-factly put down? What about herself can she not handle, and what is the significance about it being a woman? Edition of 50, all handprinted.
