Coelogyne-Phragmipedium
Whether in genetics with the formation of new species, in molecular biology by the conjoining of complimentary DNA, in chemistry via the engineering of new bondable atomic orbitals, linguistically in the merging of one lect with another or in the intricate merging of culture, hybridisation is about the creation of new relationships.
The images in this 'Hybridisation' project are hybrid flowers formed through the blending and harmonisation of two photographs. In the breeding of these images I use the same processes and techniques taken to different levels where some emerge as insect like creatures, other like kaleidoscopic vignettes; some preserve perfect symmetry while others, as with the whims of nature, touch on symmetry but depart along a tangent of creativity.
